I Hate to Flag a Fashionista so early in the New Year but Mariah Carey’s Aspen Sidewalk Style Begs the Question…
All the pictures featured in this fashion query were snapped outside the Joan Boyce Jewelry store (which is owned by the singer’s mother) during the holiday season and for what it’s worth, the new mum did look in high spirits as she happily posed each night for the paparazzi.
This jumpsuit would have been a winner had it not been for the super high waist belted look which seemed to create the illusion of a shorter torso on the leggy blonde. I love you Mariah but this look is a no-no.
I actually liked the above look for Mariah, no one can go wrong in all-black right? Wrong. If you throw on a pair of statement black suede boots, a statement black scarf with sequin accents, a black little black dress over leggings topped off with a statement puffy vest… Yeah, that might be a bit much, even on a diva.
ALL HOPE IS NOT LOST ↓
Ms. Carey (ahem…Mrs. Cannon) managed to “WOW!” me when she stepped out in what looked like a black cat-suit topped with a belted poncho coat and chocolate coloured knee-high boots. Tres Bien, Mariah…more looks like this, please.

TOP 5 THINGS WE HOPE GO OUT WITH THE OLD YEAR↓
#1 Ridiculous Red Carpet Poses: Ask me to name names and I will plead the 5th, you and I know who they are, let’s just leave it at that and lunacy should stop after the full moon.
#2 Crossbody Evening Bags: It’s a very lazy look especially on people who aren’t very fashion forward + we would like to see what Sonakshi Sinha can do fashion-wise without those bags.
#3 Ridiculous Hats, Head-Gears and Fascinators: We’re still having nightmares all thanks to Princess Beatrice.
#4 One-Sleeve/One-Strap Dresses: Seriously.
#5 Style-Jacking: The Art of Copying another fashionista’s style to the bone. Let’s resolve to be original.
TOP 5 TRENDS WE HOPE TO SEE MORE OF IN THE NEW YEAR↓
#1 KPOP Fashionistas: 2NE1 successfully breakthrough into US Mainstream.
#2 More Diversity on Magazine Covers: Thandie Newton has never been on the cover of vogue? Yikes.
#3 Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan on the Cannes Film-Festival Red Carpet: The global superstar and L’oreal Ambassador who marked her tenth year on the red carpet at Cannes this year, recently gave birth to a beautiful baby girl but we sincerely hope that this does not stop her from completing her annual fashionable pilgrimage to Cannes in 2012.
#4 Elevated Platform Shoes: They’re out but we can’t walk in sky-high heels without ‘em.
#5 Style- Growth: Zoë Saldaña & Olivia Palermo blazed the trail for blossoming fashionistas this year, we’ll like to see the trend continue.
On behalf of my entire Fashionwidget team, I say cheers to the dawn of a new horizon. When I started this blog in March of 2011, I had no idea that it would have such an impact on people’s lives nor did I expect to become so dedicated to commenting on fashion and helping people improve their lives in my own little way. I would like to thank all my friends and family members who have served as guest bloggers, commentators, contributors, proof-readers and so much more along the way. I would also like to thank every single person who took the time out to read, comment, subscribe, follow, like, re-tweet, re-blog Fashionwidget content throughout the year, we couldn’t have done it without you. Here’s to 2012, I wish you all the best that it has to bring and may we all stay fashionably connected, healthy, wealthy, stylish, happy and prosperous throughout the year.
