Mag Rack: What Do Deepika Padukone and Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan Have in Common?

Besides their killer looks and stunning beauty? Both actresses have now been seen paying fashion tributes to iconic Hollywood characters from blockbuster films on the cover of international magazines. Rai-Bachchan did it first back in February 2011 when she graced the cover of Vogue India wearing a Natalie Portman in ‘Black Swan’ inspired Dior couture feathered blazer. Now Padukone (on the cover of GQ India August 2012) pays tribute to ‘Catwoman’ Anne Hathaway’s character from the Hollywood summer blockbuster ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ dressed in a skin-tight corseted leather suit complete with a jewel encrusted cat-eye mask.

While Rai-Bachchan is still on maternity leave following the birth of her first child in November of 2011, Padukone will next be seen in the movie ‘Race 2′ opposite John Abraham and her current hit film ‘Cocktail’ co-star Saif Ali-Khan.

Bollywood Fashion Update: Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan’s Yummy-Mummy Sidewalk Style

Not that it should matter to anybody but Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan appears to be steadily losing the baby-weight she had infamously received so much flack for following the recent birth of her daughter, Aaradhya Bachchan. The Indian actress and former Miss World has often be spotted in a long black Mullet shrug-coat (pictured) which seems to be her go to fashion accessory in light of her newly fuller figure and I have to say it is very flattering. In my personal opinion, when a person does not shop for a lot of clothing in a new size/shape they are in (especially following weight gain), it seems to indicate an eagerness to get back to the figure they once were. Hopefully, when she does people will realise that she owes them nothing.

Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan dons Classic Sabyasachi Mukherjee at the Bvlgari Hotel Launch in London

Fresh off her most prolific Cannes Film Festival visit yet, Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan walked the red carpet alongside the likes of Isabella Rossellini and Florence Welch Tuesday night in London, England as a special guest for the opening of the new Bvlgari Hotel and Residences.

The actress looked regal in black, off white and gold gown complete with a matching net shawl, dressed up with a black & gold Bvlgari Serpenti minaudière leather clutch (£3120, Harrods, Tel. 00 44 20 7225 6611) and MEDITERRANEAN EDEN ring in 18kt yellow gold with peridot and pavé diamonds (call Bvlgari Tel: 44 (0)20 7872 99 69 for price).

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan to Endorse Kalyan Jewellery?

ALL THAT GLITTERS…

If unconfirmed reports are to be believed, Indian actress and recent mum Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan is about to ink a multi-million dollar deal with Kalyan Jewellers of India, a landmark campaign that is also said to also include her father-in-law veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan. According to the Times of India (TOI), Mr. Kalyanaraman of the Kalyan group has gone on record to state that the company hopes to conclude the drafting of the deal within the next ten days. “Aishwarya is enjoying her motherhood. Her office told us that she will be ready for the photo-shoot only after she sheds some weight and is back to her glamorous best,” the executive went on to reveal.

Rai-Bachchan is no stranger to ad-campaigns, she is currently a brand ambassador for L’Oreal Paris Cosmetics and Swiss Luxury Watch brand Longines. In the past, she was the brand ambassador for  Nakshatra diamonds (a division of DeBeers).  Kalyan jewellers (founded by T.S. Kalyanaraman in 1993) is the largest jewellery chain in India and has over 4,000 employees and 32 showrooms across South India, according to wikipedia.org.

Stylish Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan and Her Husband Abhishek Bachchan Journey Into Parenthood

MUM-TO-BE

The couple (seen here during a recent visit to Rome) got married in April of 2007 are said to be expecting their first child. The news was confirmed by Aishwarya’s father-in-law, veteran Indian actor Amitabh Bachchan via his Official Twitter account yesterday. We wish the entire Bachchan family congratulations and Godspeed to Aishwarya as she embarks on her journey into motherhood.

As we take a look back at her fashion triumphs and fails (2003 being the worst thus far) through the years, I think we all can agree that this has truly been a remarkable journey. Stunning in Armani Privé (a designer favourite of hers no doubt), Mrs Bachchan (jr) showed up on Day 2 with unflappable poise ready to play the fashion game yet again and this year, she’s in it to win it. A+

-  in India, this term is used to describe the main model who showcases the jewellery (usually signature pieces) by designer jeweler during bridal season and in campaign ads.  These women are like human mannequins to the jeweler who has selected them to hawk their latest goods (usually due to the popularity of the chosen among other reasons) therefore when you see a woman looking like this in a catalog or at a press event it is acceptable due to the nature of their assignment.
