Hervé Léger Coral Me Bad Dress – Malaika Arora-Khan vs Amanda Bynes

Coral Me Bad - Hervé Léger

Who: Amanda Bynes & Malaika Arora-Khan

Where: Red Carpets Events in USA and India

What: Hervé Léger Coral Me Bad Bandage Dress available at Net-a-porter.com Retail: $1,280

The fact that both women are wearing their hair down and over the straps of the dress takes away from the look a bit and we think there is something very unbecoming about their choice of accessories for such a high voltage dress.

Fashionwidget Verdict: Amanda Bynes B- Malaika Arora-Khan  B+

Nadia Buari wore Black Label by Alyce Designs not Oscar De La Renta

Tongues wagged when actress Nadia Buari showed up at the 19th annual PAN African Film Festival in Los Angeles California earlier this month and it was not because people were surprised to see her come all the way from Ghana to be in attendance. The actress showed up draped in a jaw-dropping form fitting beaded red and black gown, turning heads from the moment she stepped onto the red carpet, rubbing shoulders with and perhaps stealing the limelight from such Hollywood greats Nicole Ari Parker, Boris Kodjoe and even fellow African actress, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde. When asked about the designer of her gorgeous gown, Buari reportedly did not hesitate to credit Oscar de la Renta. A move that sent many-a-fashion-blogger into a frenzy as no one seemed to recall seeing this gown in any of the recent fashion week collections. A show-stopping gown like this would be vivid on the mind of fashion followers. Perhaps it was a vintage OdlR? One fashion blogger actually went as far as to call the company to inquire about the dress only to be told that the dress was not a part of any of the Oscar de la Renta collections after providing them with a link to view it.

Nadia Buari in Black Label #5036 by Alyce Designs

Weeks passed on and while the actress had been called out on her little white lie by the media, fashion bloggers and inquiring minds still wanted to know who the “real” designer behind the seeming fashion forward gown was. Well, as prom season is in full swing, a young teen (who has requested to remain nameless) shopping for her prom gown tweeted us a link to view a fashion label named Alyce Designs which carries a couture line known as ‘Black Label’ which specializes in couture evening wear and prom gowns and lo! Behold! there the dress was sitting pretty and popular on their site.  We fail to understand why Ms. Buari would feel the need to lie about her dress on the red carpet but her little stunt seems to be paying off for the company, her infamous frock is now their second bestseller.

If we had to pick a favorite look (and there quite a few of them) we would have to settle for the very fashion forward green floor-length trenchcoat as seen above. Edge and elegance all rolled into one. Edgy-elegance. 🙂

We simply cannot stress enough how much minimalism is the key to red carpet perfection right now.  We love how stunning Katy Perry looks in this lavender criss-cross Hervé Léger bandage dress and Brian Atwood metallic silver platform pumps. Hair swept up into a neat bun and diamond earrings complete the look. What a fashion statement.
