Fashionwidget’s Verdict: The ever ethereal Gong Li continued her wow-factor this year in a stunning deep purple gown by Roberto Cavalli, Uma Thurman looked divine in Versace, Rachel McAdams looked angelic earlier in the day when she showed up for a photo-call in a white flower accented shift dress by Maxime Simoens Couture then later on in the evening gave the red carpet a run for its red-money in a (you guessed it) shocking red number by Marchesa. Karolina Kurkova looked truly regal in Armani Privé Autumn/Spring 2009-10. All in all it was a very good fashion show.

Fashionwidget’s Verdict: This year marks Aishwarya’s 10th consecutive appearance at the prestigious film festival and so it was only befitting that the actress chose to stay loyal to a fashion house that has dressed her exceptional well in the past – Elie Saab. Despite the heavy embroidery involved with the intricate detailing on this dress (or is it a skirt and blouse?) the entire look was understated yet elegant enough to land her atop the list of best dressed divas from Day 1. A+

Fashionwidget’s Verdict: We unanimously prefer her evening red carpet look as seen above (also by GUCCI). When we saw her at the photo call, we were immediately reminded of that jaw-dropping GUCCI frock Jennifer Lopez wore to perfection at the Costume Gala last week. Why then would Salma Hayek repeat a similar look so soon? That too and the fact that she is a busty woman, the feather-boa-shrug did not do her any justice. Daytime GUCCI: C-/Evening GUCCI: A+
