Cannes Film Festival Day 3 – Fashion Spotlight on Fan Bing Bing

WHO: Fan Bing Bing (Chinese actress and Singer)

WHAT: “Polisse” & “Wu Xia” Premieres at the Palais des Festivals during the 64th Cannes Film Festival

WHEN: May 13th 2011

WHERE: Cannes, France

Fashionwidget’s Verdict: In a white Elie Saab Couture gown and pink mermaid-cut ruffled gown by Atelier Versace there is very little room for anyone to go wrong on the red carpet. Thankfully, that was the case with Fan Bing Bing’s show-stopping moments on the red carpet yesterday. Something about her just screams “Hollywood Golden-Era”, she reminds us again of how to do glamour like it was done in the days of Elizabeth Taylor, Dorothy Dandridge and Grace Kelly or more recently with Catherine Zeta Jones. Movie Star! Complete and utter movie star. Yes, it is a bit over the top but to invoke that era you need to be a little over the top. This one gets it. A+

Cannes Film Festival DAY 3 – Fashion on the Red Carpet

WHO: Cheryl Cole, Sarah Jessica Parker, Li Xiao Ran, Tang Wei

WHAT: Movie Premiere Screenings at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival

WHEN: May 13th

WHERE: Cannes, France

Fashionwidget’s Verdict: So X-Factor-UK judge Cheryl Cole showed up dressed to kill in a white with gold-tone accented belt statement gown by Stéphane Rolland at the ‘We have a Pope’ Cannes screening on day 3 and Sarah Jessica Parker heated things up at the ‘Wu Xia’ Cannes Premiere in a print dress by Elie Saab.  I liked the Dolce and Gabbana dress she wore to the VIP press meet at the Martinez hotel but our esteemed contributors prefered the Elie Saab. Other stylish stars who turned up the fashion dial were international actresses Tang Wei and Li Xiao Ran. B+
