Hot on the heels of Cadbury UK’s Chocolate-gate scandal in which the popular confectioner ran a print advertisement with the tag line “Move over Naomi, there’s a new diva in town…” for the launch of their new brand of chocolate which seemed to refer to the famed supermodel Naomi Campbell. The supermodel took offense, citing racial degradation and the company has since done away with the ads and issued an apology to the supermodel. Now Elle Canada (apparently they missed the memo) has featured a similar tag line in their July 2011 issue next to a picture of their cover girl, 16-year-old up and coming model Herieth Paul who is being touted as the next best thing. My question is, would they ever do this to Kate Moss? Eerily enough, a colleague of mine pointed out that she (Paul) bears an uncanny resemblance to Campbell, even though I fail to see it. Let’s wait and see how this one pans out.
WHO: Jennifer Lopez and Nicole Sherzinger – UK Style
WHAT: 95.8 Capital FM Summer Ball
WHEN: June 12th, 2011
WHERE: Wembley Stadium in London
FASHIONWIDGET’S VERDICT: Nicole has been rocking sky-high boots all summer so we think she is trying to trend this trend. Jennifer on the other hand has only done this look at this UK event so far this summer so we are more inclined to forgive her. Ladies, are you even comfortable? Not bloody likely. This is definitely a fashion query. Sky-high, thigh high boots in the summertime? Leather and snake-skin mini dresses to boot? The OTT rock chick look both ladies attempted went way overboard. Way too many seasons going on here. It’s just too much. It is and it looks just the way it sounds. Not good.
