REST IN PEACE…

Whitney Houston takes a bow...
There really aren’t words to express the feeling of losing someone as eternally talented as Whitney Houston. When the Associated Press broke the news a few hours ago and I watched as CNN’s Don Lemon confirmed the breaking news…as a life long fan, I immediately plunged into an ocean of profound sadness and I have been in that dark place ever since. It’s just very hard to process that she is gone. My thoughts and prayers are with her family, especially her mother Cissy and of course her teenage daughter Bobbi Kristina at this very difficult time. It is one thing for the media to go ahead and have a field day with Whitney’s passing but it is quite another for the public to buy into whatever is being floated. I want to use this opportunity to plead with all fans and followers of this site to please refrain from posting any negative comments (if you do you will be reported, your comments will be deleted and you will be banned) please show some respect for the faithful departed and the family she left behind. May her soul rest in perfect peace, Amen.

Awesome post, I’m officially following your blog. 🙂
Cultural Toast

Introducing a new segment to CulturalToast.com, we proudly present Cultural Loop. This feature provides our readers with the latest news within the fashion world. Wonderland UK Editor Julia Sarr-Jamoisis the celebrity brand face for Tibi Spring 2012 AD Campaign. Julia was styled by Tibi’s Amy Smilovic and swedish blogger Elin King. Her confidence simply radiates in these photographs and she also gives us all hair envy with her natural Afro. Julia shared with Vogue about what she calls her statement hair.
“I’ve had my hair like this since I was about fourteen,” Sarr-Jamois says. “When I was at school, I had it in plaits, which were quite tedious, and I thought, ‘I’m going to take it out for a bit.’ I remember feeling like it looked really big at first but then I ended up keeping it. I wash it with Bumble and Bumble Tonic shampoo, which smells so…

If I am wrong, then someone please let me know, but I read somewhere yesterday, and have not counted independently, that New York Fashion Week hosts 306 shows. Another 59 shows and there would be enough shows for one per day, for an entire year. However, this is fashion month and fashion month begins in New York and today is day two of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at the Lincoln Center. There are lots of shows which go on each day, which would be hard to cover, so I am writing about the show which interests me the most. Todays show was Jason Wu’s Ready-To-Wear Autumn Winter 2012.

Jason Wu’s A/W collection takes on a Utilitarian approach, with stiff collars, neck ties, and cinched waists. With poker straight Samurai-inspired pony tails, the look is tough and formal, yet remains ladylike. It has…

A truly fascinating account, thanks.
P3R Publicity
Day two of fashion week was all about making a statement. Statement colors, fabrics, separates and jewelry.
Kate Spade‘s presentation was full of fun, bright colors and prints with a boyish edge. Her accessories didn’t seem to let anyone down either; big envelope clutches, sleek satchels, leather gloves and polka dots, lots and lots of polka dots!
Fresh off the release of his collaboration line with Target, Jason Wu‘s collection featured tailored military jackets, pops of bold, rich reds and golden brocade.
Peter Som‘s multi-colored furs, peplum tops and sleek tailoring exuded femininity and luxury. Every it-girl trying to make a statement will be seen wearing Som’s fall pieces.
When you think of Rebecca Minkoff you think of amazing handbags and this year’s fashion show did not disappoint. Layering, mixing prints and sequins were trademarks of the fall ready-to-wear line in addition to the new crop of…

Quite possibly the most elegant collection thus far…
Fashion Addict Army

As a fashion addict, New York Fashion Week is something I look forward to all season. And I definitely wasn’t disappointed with the shows on the first day. First with the great BCBG Max Azria collection, and then with my favorite of the day, Tadashi Shoji. This collection was gorgeous. Full of jewel tone, embroidered gowns. The collection felt like a trip to Paris; with the drop waists and delicate embroidery. The collection had a little bit of a 1920’s vibe, too. Overall, the collection was simply beautiful. What did you think?
