2012 BAFTA Awards Red Carpet

PENELOPE CRUZ all the way…

The Democracy Diva

Let’s celebrate the best in British film and TV.

JESSICA CHASTAIN // gown by Oscar de la Renta, shoes by Jimmy Choo

Beautiful. I don’t love the length (a bit short in the front, a bit long in the back) or the shoes (too much texture, and I wouldn’t have picked a platform), and the fit around her waist is kind of funny. But, I mean, she’s freaking stunning. Case in point:

Work it.

MERYL STREEP // gown by Vivienne Westwood

You go and GET that British award for playing a British political icon even though you’re American, Meryl! And might I say, your tits are looking delightfully perky! Also, dress like this for every event ever, please!

KRISTEN WIIG // gown by Alberta Ferretti, shoes by Miu Miu

So natural and minimalist and beautiful, like a breath of fresh air. It doesn’t fit perfectly, but at least…

Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week 2012 – Grand Finale

I enjoyed Bipasha and Madhavan as showstoppers.

Indian Fashion Police

New Collection, new designs that have been inspired by every walk of life. The Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week ended with a Grand Finale by designer JJ Valaya who simply mesmerizes with his work everytime it is presented on the runway. This time around there was an array of colors in the Valaya ‘Azrak’ collection that ranged from whites to golds to dark blues. The western outfits were done in lighter hues where as Indian wear had richer colors. The beautiful ‘Alika’ jackets which are my favorite, were teamed with sarees. JJ Valaya had Celebrities like Navin Ansal and designers like Suneet Varma, Rohit Bal take the ramp in his menswear collection. Bandhgalas, Jacket and Jodhpuris were designed in velvet, cotton, wool and gabardine with touch of monochromatic prints. Valaya never falls short of making a person feel like royalty which is how each of the celebs walking down the runway looked like. The collection was inspired by the ‘Ottoman’ era of Turkey and…

Viola Davis, Octavia Spencer, Jennifer Hudson, Regina King, Paula Patton and more Don Bright Colours that Pop at the 2012 NAACP Image Awards

PURE ELEGANCE

The gowns were bright and elegant which brought extra oomph to the celebratory theme of the award ceremony on such a somber night (the eve of Whitney Houston’s funeral). The afore-mentioned colourful gowns were certainly a highlight for me. Jennifer Hudson looked and sang like a dream in a beautiful sky blue number. Paula Patton turned up the volume alongside a super fit Regina King as the ladies in bright red and Keke Palmer looked stunning in a strapless fuchsia gown. Viola Davis showed enough cleavage to satisfy the cleavage quota for the entire evening, the problem is…she wasn’t the only fashion maven there with her rack on prominent display. I felt it really distracted from her gorgeous gown and sincerely hope a stylist had nothing to do with that much show of skin on such a classy lady. I kept worrying that she would have a wardrobe malfunction but thankfully (at least to my knowledge) she did not. Phew!

I was very impressed with the turnout on the red carpet at the Image awards this year and while I am still reeling from the earth-shaking vocal performance by Yolanda Adams in tribute to her late friend Whitney Houston, I just thought I’d share some quick thoughts on what the fashions looked liked inside the shrine auditorium tonight. Octavia Spencer did not disappoint and continues to fly the flag for shapely woman everywhere, Garcelle Beauvais looked marvellous in stripes and while I thought that China Anne Mclain’s rosette adorned gown was too mature for her, she looked as lovely as ever.

Designs From Delhi

Kalki is definitely killing it in that applique ensemble, thanks for sharing these.

The Chatterjis Blog

Day 1 from Wills India Fashion Week in Delhi got off to a cracking start.  Autumn/Winter shows in Delhi are usually of loose relevance as designers forget it gets Very Cold Indeed here in Winter and offer bales of chiffon to supposedly keep us warm.  With a vodka shot please.

Veteran Indian designers showcase alongside the new generation and here I present three designers that showed yesterday and who can demonstrate the bredth of fashion coming from India:

This beautiful dress is by Preeti Chandra who offered a collection inspired by ‘matador chic’.   It’s quite a tried and tested inspiration of designers from all over the world

Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week 2012 – Day 1

Dia Mirza and Sameera Reddy look as gorgeous as ever.

Indian Fashion Police

Sneak Peek at the first day of WLIFW where actress Dia Mirza & Sameera Reddy walked the runway as show stopper for designers Shantanu-Nikhil. The collection had bold colors will alot of metallic elements. Drapes took centre stage in this collection while shimmer added that much needed bling for the glam quotient.

A glimpse into Shantanu-Nikhil’s Fall 2012 Collection

Designers whose Collection we loved at WLIFW 2012

Anand Kabra

Designer Anand Kabra incorporated more detail work in this recent collection which is perfect for the wedding season. The collection was a mix of western as well as Indian wear consisting of skirts, sarees, gowns, lehengas and much more. Silks, chiffon, velvet were used to create designs in cool colors like blue & green. IFP loved this collection for the colors & the detail work & we definitely do recommend ‘Anand Kabra’ creation in your next season ‘must-have’.

Designer James Ferreira definitely knows how to make…
