Happening In Cannes: Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan in Abu-Sandeep at the 2012 AmFar Charity Dinner

As expected Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan showed up draped in a unique gold and cream coloured embroidered saree designed by the Abu-Sandeep team of India. This marked a departure from the on-trend western wear fans of the actress have become accustomed to seeing her wear in recent years at Cannes. The new mother of one looked ravishing and carried off the look well enough for a woman who recently gave birth. Hair and makeup were in a word, perfection. This is Rai-Bachchan’s second time attending the AmFar gala, a charity that raises funds for AIDS research, she also showed her support earlier in the millenium when she served as a Cannes juror.

Actress Sonam Kapoor (seen here with John Nollett at the L’Oreal and Chopard party last night) always manages to look great in anything she opts to wear but for some reason this Naeem Khan design appears to be wearing her to the prom. She is tall & very slim-fit therefore she can afford to and should always stick to figure defining silhouettes (think Charlize Theron & Nicole Kidman), solid colours and simple cuts. That bow on her shoulder appears to be eating her alive and there is enough fabric in the hoop of her skirt to clothe two other able-bodied fashionistas.
