Sidewalk Style: Jessica Alba Pumps up the Style Volume at the Gas Pump in Beverly Hills, California

Jessica Alba

Fluid Longline Blazer - $130 -

Tie Neck Blouse W/ Studs White - $99 -

Mother The Looker mid-rise skinny jeans - $195 -

Jimmy Choo Brown Embellished Leather And Snakeskin 'Vivienne' Platform Sandals - $1,356 -

Victoria Beckham Cat Eye-Frame Acetate Sunglasses - $195 (£124) -

One of the reasons why I love Jessica Alba’s style is because she seems to dress to please herself and her like-minded peers i.e. she dresses for women (which simply means she dresses in a way that other women can appreciate and be inspired by) also a reason why she is featured on Fashionwidget often. I particularly love the way she had paired this easy breezy chiffon blouse with the skinny jean then balanced off with a rolled-up cuff blazer and peep-toe pumps to create a look that is appropriate enough to show up at your child’s school in or at a business meeting yet fascinating enough to land you a spot on the ever critical best dressed list.

Style Profile: Around the Fashion World with Sonam Kapoor – Global Fashion Week Special

Sonam Kapoor (daughter of international actor Anil Kapoor) has been a hot topic ever since she debuted into the Bollywood (India’s) film fraternity back in 2007. While these days she is more famous for her fashion forays than her films, here’s a look at how the up and coming fashionista has dressed to impress in the past few weeks on the fashion circuit as fashion week’s newest front-row IT-Girl

Fashionwidget, the little blog that could… Celebrates 30,000+ Fashionwidgeters on WordPress!!!

just as New York Fashion Week drew to a close and inspired by all the amazing things I got to experience attending some of the shows, I got this idea to start a fashion blog. It was something I had always wanted to do but never had the time to devote to it. Knowing very little about the industry or where to begin and inspired only by my renewed passion for fashion I simply talked about what I knew. To some, the idea seemed weird because they believed that only people “in fashion” should talk about fashion. I refuse to call these people out but rather thank them for inspiring me to press forward.  As an avid fan of Bollywood (one of the India’s film industries), Nollywood (Nigeria’s film industry & the biggest film industry in Africa) and of course, Hollywood (arguably the premiere industry of the Western World) my initial posts reflected the style and fashions of the designers and stars from these familiar worlds.   Before long, Fashionwidget began to attract positive attention including but not limited to being signed up and syndicated as a citizen zine publisher (web magazine) for an online magazine outlet that attracts over 20 million readers per month. 30, 000+ Fashionwidget readers later, the rest as they say is history.

I was not going to do this write-up until next month but when I signed on yesterday and saw that we had reached this milestone before Fashionwidget’s first birthday, I was elated. I want to take this opportunity to thank God & every single person who has signed up for Fashionwidget updates here on WordPress & via e-mail, those who have followed along on Twitter, liked on Facebook, Tumblr & Me2day, WordPress for hosting my blog, all my guest bloggers, my family and friends who have one way or the other supported me, everyone at Polyvore, Stylebistro & Zimbio for syndicating my blog, celebrities and their representatives for commenting and supporting via e-mail & twitter,  fashion designer representatives including but not limited to OscarPRgirl and DknyPRgirl for tweeting along with me during many red carpet fashion events, thank you to all who have taken the time out to comment or send feedback, Polyvore set-requesters (keep ’em coming) and to all those who have provided monetary donations to keep flame burning. I thank you all for your support, feedback, trust and I hope to continue bringing you my international fashion opinion as we look to the future. It has been an amazing 11 months and God-willing, the best is yet to come.

Fashionwidget turns 1 year strong on March 31st.

Fashionwidget Picks from the Badgley Mischka Pre-Fall 2012 Collection Press Day Show in NYC

If there is one thing you should know about the Badgley Mischka fashion house, it is that the designers behind the brand know how to create ensembles to flatter the female figure no matter what shape or size. Their signature looks include clean natural cuts topped with intricate embellishments, classic fluid lines and the simple yet eye-catching silhouette as evident in their magnificent Pre-Fall 2012 collection which went on display for the press on December 13th, 2011 in New York City.

Celebrating @Fashionwidget’s 500th Blogpost as the Fierce Fashionistas of K-Pop #2NE1 Take Over New York City @MTVIGGY

#500 is 2NE1 STYLE↓

The Streets of New York City pumped with a different kind of bass when the ladies of 2ne1 touched down at JFK last week. Fans or should I say “Blackjacks” (as they are popularly known) were seen turning up the speakers on any portable device that could legally play music in the streets while emulating dance-steps made popular by the collective of CL, Minzy, Dara & Bom in celebration of the iconic K-Pop (Korean Pop) group’s arrival. This trip marks the first visit by the girls as a group to New York City and is indeed a rare occasion for many K-pop fans. They arrived on a seasonably cold, rainy school-day morning yet many die-hard fans still managed to make the trip to the airport to welcome them.

Both resident and visiting Blackjacks have since been seen stylishly roaming the streets of Manhattan in the hopes of catching a glimpse of their favourite girl from the group. The all-girl group is Stateside to attend and perform at MTV IGGY’s Best Band In The World Concert (more information below) and as seen through Twitter tweets from the girls who have been sightseeing, photo-shooting, meeting & greeting their fans, they are enjoying their stay thus far.  A selected groups of lucky contest winners will get to see the girls perform live as announced by MTV IGGY who had previously conducted a raffle for fans to win tickets.

2NE1 arrive at the 2011 Mnet Asian Music Awards

Blackjacks have also been spotted in Manhattan waving signs, playing music & styled up in looks similar to 2NE1’s signature style which is credited mostly to the favourite designer for the girls, Jeremy Scott.  The concert will be streamed LIVE from the MTV IGGY website, for more details on where you can watch and to learn more about groups performing please see and visit the links below:

Thin is In for K-Pop’s Stylish Piggy Dolls as Each Girl Loses 45lbs for their Sophomore Effort

Credit: NewsEN

WHO: The Piggy Girls (Kim Min Sun – born February 25th 1991, Park Ji Eun – born March 16th 1994, Lee Ji Yeon – born April 2nd 1991)

WHAT: Stylish Girl Group Weight loss Transformation

WHEN: July 2011

FASHIONWIDGET’S VERDICT: Here I was thinking they would see this thing through to the end, enforcing a realistic image for young girls who don’t happen to be stick thin to feel comfortable in their own skin and to look up to but apparently harsh criticism has forced the Piggy Girls (a controversial Korean Pop all-girl group that debuted back in January) to the gym and on a diet that has shaped them look like every other girl group out there. Now that each girl is just about 45 pounds lighter, here’s hoping they stay stylish, interesting and that their new music sounds as good as their new looks. Fingers crossed.
