The stunning former runway model who made her acting debut in the Bollywood hit movie ‘Cocktail’ alongside Deepika Padukone and Saif Ali-Khan, covers the current issue of Vogue – India. Fashionwidget’s Verdict: A few days ago I expressed the desire to see Indian actress Deepika Padukone cover the latest issue of among other fashion periodicals, l’officiel as part of the promotional junket for her new movie ‘cocktail’. Imagine my surprise when I stumbled upon super sexy actor Arjun Rampal on the latest cover of the magazine instead. I’ll take it, seeing as I love both entertainers & their style, it’s all the same love and I have to say Mr. Rampal is looking really stellar here in an all-black Gucci attire and a wrist watch by Omega. The actor will next be seen in the movie ‘Ishq in Paris’ (Love in Paris) with legendary French actress Isabelle Adjani and fellow Indian actress Preity Zinta.

Bollywood Fashion Update: Deepika Padukone Opts for a Sabyasachi Saree for the ‘Cocktail’ Premiere

Stylishly seen here on the cover of EYE (a section of the Indian Financial Express), former Indian supermodel turned actress Deepika Padukone is riding a tidal wave of popularity with the success of her recent films ‘desi boyz’ & the newly released ‘cocktail’ not to mention countless magazine covers that almost rival her days as a supermodel as well as numerous appearances promoting her brands. One such occasion was that of the world premiere of ‘cocktail’ in Mumbai last week where she debuted her newly curvy figure in a stunning 2012 bridal collection Sabyasachi saree. Bollywood Fashion Update: Imran Khan Covers Filmfare Magazine – August 2012

Looking too cool for school in a classic white tee, faded jeans & wayfarer sunglasses Indian actor Imran Khan covers filmfare magazine’s first issue for the month of August 2012.

I love Imran Khan (Fashionwidget’s choice for best dressed bollywood male 2011) the actor and the stylish bloke. I have not seen enough of him this year on the red carpet but wherever & whenever the reclusive actor has shown up, he has delivered the style as expected even at somewhere as simple as the airport. He just knows how to bring something special to the traditional suit look and I think that’s the style factor I appreciate most about him. His wife Avantika’s style (pictured below) is a different tale entirely but she is a star-wife and is free to dress any way she chooses to. I appreciate those who try to make fashion statements but if they do not care for fashion then they should be left alone. While we’re on fashion statements, I’m hoping that new beard Khan has been sporting is for an upcoming movie role…it keeps growing and looks a bit creepy. Nothing against bearded people or beards or anything.

Cover Girl: Jackie Appiah Dazzles Complete Fashion Magazine’s 2012 Colour Issue

Hot off her stunning appearance at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival representing her native Ghana, actress Jackie Appiah sits pretty on the cover of the latest issue of one of Africa’s most influential fashion magazines, Nigeria’s Complete Fashion. I am so in love with her statement necklace which looks to be made up of at least two dozen colouring pencils and yellow sharpener earrings. Shine on Jackie!

Kelly Clarkson Covers Lucky Magazine – July 2012

Looking chic in a red leather jacket, maroon top and blue jeans Kelly Clarkson might as well be the poster child for real cool. Having landed her second magazine cover in less than one month, the newly-minted reality show judge (ABC’s Duets) discusses everything from beauty tips, personal style preferences (hint: she loves bandage/body con dresses) to the success of her latest album and yes…those pesky “L” word rumours. Issue is currently on North American newsstands.

N.B. I don’t understand why people insist on obsessing about the sexuality of others. Gay, Straight, Bi-sexual, Trans-sexual, Try-sexual, A-sexual…geez! It’s really none of our business and does not change the cost of fish, gas or your taxes.

Indian Runway-Model-Turned-Actress Anushka Sharma Covers Filmfare Middle-East – July 2012

It’s not so much as a statement cover but Ms. Sharma does look pretty in a beige-ish pink sequins et sheer mini dress styled up with tousled locks, nude makeup and a simple black chain bag. Three hit films strong (Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, Band Baaja Baaraat & Ladies vs Vicky Bahl) with a film career that began in 2008, the former model discusses her upcoming film projects with ace directors Anurag Kashyap and Raju Hirani among others. Side Note: The other headline on the cover quoting French-Indian actress Kalki Koechlin (wife of director Anurag Kashyap) as saying she cannot play Bengali village-girl is so hilarious. I don’t believe I need to read the magazine to figure out why she has said this and if you know what Ms. Koechlin looks like versus a Bengali village girl, you will be laughing at her statement too. I just love Kalki, she is one of my favourite new Indian actresses and a fabulous fashionista might I add. Nice to know she has such a healthy sense of humour and does not take herself too seriously. Hopefully, somebody will challenge her and cast her in this role she does not think she can do.

Open Note To Kalki Koechlin: Meryl Streep would never give such a quote! You can do it Kalki, don’t limit yourself. If Robert Downing Jr. could convincingly play an African-American in ‘Tropic Thunder’ without causing any racial uproar, certainly you can play a Bengali village girl. All you need is a tan and drop your Tamilian accent, the acting thing is already in the bag.

Bollywood Update: Priyanka Chopra and Shahid Kapoor Cover Filmfare for Teri Meri Kahaani

Ex-Miss World Priyanka Chopra yet again has graced the cover of Filmfare magazine with that now signature hand-on-hip pose but at least this time she has company in her ‘Teri Meri Kahaani’ co-star Shahid Kapoor to make things interesting. The pair appear on the July 4th, 2012 issue on international newsstands now.
