FASHIONWIDGET’S VERDICT: In spite of  all the flash mob dancers, pyrotechnics, confetti, vamp dance acts and other shenanigans, the clothes and shoes from Fendi and Jimmy Choo were the highlights of the show which was scheduled to begin at 8pm but did not get underway until much later. Spring/Summer 2012 looks very promising with lots of tailored mini skirt suits, knee-high boots, fur (if you choose to wear it) , peep-toe strappy shoes, fascinators, lots of colour and more.  This was my first time at the Galleria and I must say the mall was pretty impressive on its own without adding the FASHION NOW effect. I only wish I could have stayed in town longer to see the skating rink within the mall which was converted into a runway for the fashion shows. The Houston fashion scene, which is pretty much new to the Fashion’s Night Out scene as celebrated the world over, earns a C+ from me because I certainly found myself missing New York City. 🙂

FASHIONWIDGET’S VERDICT: We did not have Spring in New York City this year so we gladly welcomed this amazingly colourful Prabal Gurung Spring 2011 frock as soon as we spotted it on the red carpet worn by Supermodel Iman Bowie. It has been said that extremely beautiful women usually rely on their beauty to carry them through everything including fashion. That is not the case with Iman, a woman over 50 with a fashion sense that is as forward thinking as it is sophisticated and revolutionary. Many would argue that she is a beneficiary of the fact that she has been in fashion for a good portion of her life thus far but I say you cannot by style and you can buy class. You either have it or you don’t and this woman has it times 2. Beauty and grace with style to boot.

Fashionwidget’s Verdict: Models versus Actresses versus Singers versus Designers, every single one of them showed up with their fashionista game face on. We Especially loved the colourful statements made by Doutzen Kroes and Janet Jackson in a two-tone Haider Ackmermann dress. The fashion was simply stellar on the amFAR red carpet this year as expected.  We loved the Jean Fares, the Chanel(s) and the Givenchy Couture(s), we also cherished looks from L.A.M.B (Gwen Stefani was a showstopper in her black halter ensemble) and Atelier Versace. It is with sincere hope that we wonder if it was as much fun for all these divas to strut in their latest designer threads for a worthy cause as it was for us to watch and offer our opinions. We also hope some serious money was raised to benefit AIDS research.
