FASHIONWIDGET’S VERDICT: The ladies across the pond surely have their fashion papers in order. Most of them I had never heard off before this event but have to admit were looking very fashionable and stylish in their various ensembles. Very few fashion missteps noted and as a matter of fact I picked a few fashion tips I hadn’t thought off before or seen sported elsewhere. For example, wearing head-to-toe black in the Summer like Louise Redknapp can be stylish if you pick the right dress and accessorize it properly like she did. Also, daytime makeup goes swimmingly well with evening wear. Caped maxi dresses can be worn proudly in the Summer as well especially if they are in bold colours. Boots can be worn in the Summertime and in black for that matter, it just depends on the fashionista and how she chooses to sport it.

FASHIONWIDGET’S VERDICT: Classy. Chic. Stylish. Sophisticated. I especially loved the black Ralph Lauren gown she wore to the farewell dinner party, that’s my personal pick from the entire trip. I just don’t get her detractors when they nit-pick at everything she wears, we are not the first to report on Michelle’s UK style but I must say we might be one of the selected few who actually fancied her global chic wardrobe. Michelle Obama is a very beautiful and stylish woman with a great figure. Let’s leave it at that. People who feel the need to compare her to former first ladies or comment on the shape of her body are just being ridiculous because this woman can only be one person and that is who she is… Michelle Obama.

Fashionwidget’s Verdict: The ever ethereal Gong Li continued her wow-factor this year in a stunning deep purple gown by Roberto Cavalli, Uma Thurman looked divine in Versace, Rachel McAdams looked angelic earlier in the day when she showed up for a photo-call in a white flower accented shift dress by Maxime Simoens Couture then later on in the evening gave the red carpet a run for its red-money in a (you guessed it) shocking red number by Marchesa. Karolina Kurkova looked truly regal in Armani Privé Autumn/Spring 2009-10. All in all it was a very good fashion show.

Fashionwidget’s Verdict: This year marks Aishwarya’s 10th consecutive appearance at the prestigious film festival and so it was only befitting that the actress chose to stay loyal to a fashion house that has dressed her exceptional well in the past – Elie Saab. Despite the heavy embroidery involved with the intricate detailing on this dress (or is it a skirt and blouse?) the entire look was understated yet elegant enough to land her atop the list of best dressed divas from Day 1. A+
