Fashionwidget’s Verdict: Models versus Actresses versus Singers versus Designers, every single one of them showed up with their fashionista game face on. We Especially loved the colourful statements made by Doutzen Kroes and Janet Jackson in a two-tone Haider Ackmermann dress. The fashion was simply stellar on the amFAR red carpet this year as expected. We loved the Jean Fares, the Chanel(s) and the Givenchy Couture(s), we also cherished looks from L.A.M.B (Gwen Stefani was a showstopper in her black halter ensemble) and Atelier Versace. It is with sincere hope that we wonder if it was as much fun for all these divas to strut in their latest designer threads for a worthy cause as it was for us to watch and offer our opinions. We also hope some serious money was raised to benefit AIDS research. For more information about the American Foundation for AIDS Research (amFAR ) and how you can volunteer/donate/spread the word please follow the link(s) as listed below.

Death of an Icon – R.I.P Dame Elizabeth Taylor (1932-2011)
Iconic for her signature style, great beauty, many marriages and as a crusader for HIV/AIDS related charities, Elizabeth Taylor quietly passed away in the wee hours of Wednesday March 23rd 2011 surrounded by her family at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles, California where she had been hospitalized two-months ago. Taylor’s son Michael with second husband (Michael Wilding) released an official statement on behalf of the family:
“My mother was an extraordinary woman who lived life to the fullest, with great passion, humour, and love,” he said. “Though her loss is devastating to those of us who held her so close and so dear, we will always be inspired by her enduring contribution to our world. Her remarkable body of work in film, her on-going success as a businesswoman, and her brave and relentless advocacy in the fight against HIV/AIDS, all make us all incredibly proud of what she accomplished. We know, quite simply, that the world is a better place for mom having lived in it. Her legacy will never fade, her spirit will always be with us, and her love will live forever in our hearts.” – Michael Wilding
