Mag Rack: Former ANTM Contestant/Bollywood Actress Nargis Fakhri Covers Marie Claire India – August 2012

Often criticised for over-accentuating her luscious lips, newly minted starlet Nargis Fakhri seems to be having the last laugh as she has landed yet another fashion magazine cover with just one movie (2011’s Roskstar) under her belt and just two years in Bollywood. The lovely maroon coloured long-sleeved crocheted dress and understated makeup really helped play up her exotic looks. Last month, she posed for the cover of the prestigious fashion glossy, Hi! Blitz.

Mag-Rack: Katie Holmes Covers Elle Magazine (US) – August 2012

You would have to be living under a rock not to know that actress Katie Holmes has officially filed for divorce from her husband of six years, actor Tom Cruise. In fact, rumours are rampant that the couple reached a divorce settlement in less than two weeks, which by all accounts is a record for Hollywood. While no official details have been released concerning the obviously very private personal matter, the soon-to-be-single stylish actress-turned-fashion-designer and mother of one graces the cover of Elle Magazine, on newsstands in the US starting July 17th.

Cover Girl: Jackie Appiah Dazzles Complete Fashion Magazine’s 2012 Colour Issue

Hot off her stunning appearance at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival representing her native Ghana, actress Jackie Appiah sits pretty on the cover of the latest issue of one of Africa’s most influential fashion magazines, Nigeria’s Complete Fashion. I am so in love with her statement necklace which looks to be made up of at least two dozen colouring pencils and yellow sharpener earrings. Shine on Jackie!

Kelly Clarkson Covers Lucky Magazine – July 2012

Looking chic in a red leather jacket, maroon top and blue jeans Kelly Clarkson might as well be the poster child for real cool. Having landed her second magazine cover in less than one month, the newly-minted reality show judge (ABC’s Duets) discusses everything from beauty tips, personal style preferences (hint: she loves bandage/body con dresses) to the success of her latest album and yes…those pesky “L” word rumours. Issue is currently on North American newsstands.

N.B. I don’t understand why people insist on obsessing about the sexuality of others. Gay, Straight, Bi-sexual, Trans-sexual, Try-sexual, A-sexual…geez! It’s really none of our business and does not change the cost of fish, gas or your taxes.

MOVE OVER AGAIN NAOMI? ELLE MAGAZINE – CANADA’S ULTIMATE FASHION FAIL

FASHION FAIL

Elle Magazine (Canada) July 2011

Elle Magazine July 2011

Hot on the heels of Cadbury UK’s Chocolate-gate scandal in which the popular confectioner ran a print advertisement with the tag line “Move over Naomi, there’s a new diva in town…” for the launch of their new brand of chocolate which seemed to refer to the famed supermodel Naomi Campbell. The supermodel took offense, citing racial degradation and the company has since done away with the ads and issued an apology to the supermodel. Now Elle Canada (apparently they missed the memo) has featured a similar tag line in their July 2011 issue next to a picture of their cover girl, 16-year-old up and coming model Herieth Paul who is being touted as the next best thing. My question is, would they ever do this to Kate Moss? Eerily enough, a colleague of mine pointed out that she (Paul) bears an uncanny resemblance to Campbell, even though I fail to see it. Let’s wait and see how this one pans out.
