Busy month for actress and fashionista Salma Hayek, what with the promotional tour for her upcoming film ‘Savages’ and now being the cover girl for Instyle (US) magazine’s month of July. Dressed in a pink corseted mini dress by Alexander McQueen, earrings by Harry Winston and a Bottega Veneta necklace, Hayek looks so poised that a this point, she could probably do this in her sleep. The issue is on newsstands now.

Blake Lively (left) never ceases to amaze me, the fact that she never uses a stylist yet manages to pick the right outfit and styles herself perfectly each time she steps out on the red carpet is quite commendable. Here she is at the premiere of her latest film ‘Savages’ in a swirly striped beige and black figure accentuating Zuhair Murad, sensibly paired with her Veronica Lake-esque hair-do and on trend red lips, in fact only one other person came close to stealing her fashion thunder on the red carpet Monday evening in Westwood, California and that was her co-star Salma Hayek in a green floor-length-sequins-embellished Gucci number. Fashion on.

1. The Trousers(pants) are too long.
2. There is bunching in all the wrong places.
3. Styled wrong (the hat throws the whole outfit off and the gold clutch looks like it belongs with an evening gown and not this suit).
4. What is that scarf doing there? Oh! No wait….it’s a halter top underneath a waist-coat. WOW! 😯
5. Salma Hayek who is obviously a beautiful petite woman looked like she was drowning in fabric on that red carpet. We know it’s cold in London this time of the year but seriously, how many minutes was she going to spend on that red carpet posing for pictures?

Fashionwidget’s Verdict: We unanimously prefer her evening red carpet look as seen above (also by GUCCI). When we saw her at the photo call, we were immediately reminded of that jaw-dropping GUCCI frock Jennifer Lopez wore to perfection at the Costume Gala last week. Why then would Salma Hayek repeat a similar look so soon? That too and the fact that she is a busty woman, the feather-boa-shrug did not do her any justice. Daytime GUCCI: C-/Evening GUCCI: A+
